Student and Family Camping Trips:
I planned and led camping trips for students from third through ninth grade at YMCA Camp Storer. These four-day adventures fostered student independence, an opportunity to spend time in nature and many collaboration activities. In addition, I hosted annual family camping trips to connect with our school community and build strong relationships with parents. These weekends also gave students a chance to visit prominent local destinations like Traverse City, Mackinac City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Tahquamenon Falls, and Niagara Falls.
Longer Student Excursions:
I organize and chaperoned many week-long domestic travel experiences for students from fifth through ninth grade. These included Chicago, Washington DC, New York City, and Boston. These trips were the culmination of a school wide examination of the location and its significance. We visited historic sites, museums, science centers, universities, monuments, theaters, restaurants, and many more. For many students this was their first time away from home on their own, their first time visiting these sites, and their first time on an airplane. To guarantee any student could attend, I raised funds to cover the cost of students needing financial assistance.
Global Citizens:
It was my privilege to plan and lead two and three-week international adventures. Students participated in a weekly program before embarking on these experiences where they learned the importance of the sites to be visited and their role as a global citizen. These experiences included Greece, Italy, France, Egypt, and Costa Rica. The students grew in independence, responsibility, organization, and developed a deep appreciation for diversity. Funds were also raised for any student needing financial assistance for participation.
